Zircon Briolette Long Layering Hand Knotted Gemstone Necklace, n43
This 34-inch single-strand necklace is adorned with high-end, 100% natural Cambodian zircons that are molecularly dense with a nice weight and are beautifully faceted to catch and reflect the light like diamonds.
Zircon is a natural gemstone and has been used in jewelry making for centuries. Some confusion exists between zircon and cubic zirconia; some may think that zircon is not genuine, a synthetic stone, or that zircon and cubic zirconia are the same stone. The mix-up is probably due to the similarity in names and the lack of awareness of zircon.
Zircon is formed in extrusive igneous rock, resulting in magma reaching the Earth’s surface, erupting from volcanos or as lava or ash. Some other gemstones formed in extrusive igneous rock include; Ruby, Sapphire, Moonstone, Topaz, and Bixbite (red beryl). The crystals of these stones form as the lava cools.
Zircon has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, has a specific gravity of 3.93 to 4.73 and a strong double refraction-refractive index of 1.81 to2.024, and has an adamantine luster.
The zircon used here has not been treated in any way. They are entirely natural, cut stones.
The color of these gems is similar to a champagne diamond; it’s a bit of a nude shade, hand-knotted on a beige silk cord. The result is a delicate-looking and dainty, elegant, understated necklace that will be cherished for a lifetime.
