Star Sapphire Ring in 22k Gold and 925 Silver 40 Carat Sapphire, f21

The most spectacular stone I have ever had the good fortune of working with - I so wish I could keep this one myself.

This massive, completely natural untreated stone has phenomenal color! I can get lost looking into its depths with the incredible starbursts of light, the concentric growth rings in a hexagon shape. This stone has it all - and then some. Weighing 40 carats, it is hefty and spectacular! A once-in-a-lifetime find.

I struggled with the setting for a while and had many different iterations, but in the end, a simple solid 22k gold bezel on sterling silver won my heart. The design is intentionally minimalistic, leaving the stone the star of the show (see what I did there?). The metal has a soft glow due to a lovely satin finish, while the band's interior has a stunning reflective high polish.

The ring shank is flat, about 5mm wide, and comfortably fits a U.S. size 6.75 to 7. The ring's face measures one inch in diameter - including the backplate - and sits close to 1 cm high off the finger.
